I heard voices in my head... "Shadow." Romana "Shadow?" Victor "Shadow!" The boy I knew as Adric said. I opened my eyes and smiled. "It's the end..." I said, "But the moment has been prepared for..." I motioned my hand over to the ghostly figure in across the street. "The watcher!" Adric shouted. "So he was the Shadow all the time." Romana understood. The Watcher merged with me and formed a cocoon-like layer around me. I reemerged with a warm smile. I had no idea what I looked like. Suddenly alarms blared as police and firemen showed up on the scene. Romana, Adric, and Victor (you may be a big part of this) helped me to my TARDIS. I couldn't stand up. I could barely move, barely think. "I need to find the Zero Room." That was the last thing I remember saying.

I strolled into the TARDIS. "Where's the Shadow?" "Looking for some Zero Room." Romana replied. "Zero Room? I'll go." I opened the door to the interior of the TARDIS, leaving the console room. I found a red coat. I picked it up, then put it back down. I walked further down the corridor. There was a piece of string attached to a doorknob. I followed the string and found the Shadow unraveling a jacket. I walked up to him.

I stood, unraveling the remains of my wool jacket. I turned to see a boy standing there. "Ah, you've come to help me find the Zero Room. Welcome aboard. I'm the Shadow, or will be if this regeneration works out." I shook the boy's hand then kept walking. The boy followed. By now I had almost finished unraveling my jacket. "Now, ordinary spaces, of course, show up on the architectural configuration indicators, but any good Zero Room is balanced to zero energy with respect to the world outside its four walls. Or however many walls it has." I ran my fingers through my hair. Short and straight. Not curly? "There was a very good polygonal Zero Room under the Junior Senate block on Gallifrey, widely acclaimed for it's healing properties. Kathryn's always telling me I need a holiday." "But Kathryn's gone, Shadow." The boy said. "Gone? Really? Did she leave a note?" I was shocked. "We said goodbye to her at the house, don't you remember?" The boy said. "Well, if we did, we did." I was still shocked. I tied the other end of the string to another doorknob. "This will get you back to the console room when the time comes." "Are you sure you're alright?" "There are strong dimensioning forces this deep in the TARDIS. Tend to make one a bit giddy." "And the regeneration?" "I don't know. I can feel it isn't going to be as smooth as on other occasions. Sooner we get to this Zero Room place, the better, eh?" I put a shoe down in the doorway as a marker to where we were. We kept walking. I started to tear up my waistcoat. "I left a waistcoat like that on. Ever been to Alzarius?"

"I was born there, Shadow." I couldn't believe he couldn't remember that.

"Ah, it's a small universe, isn't it?" I looked at the boy. "Now, boy, what would you do if you were me, hmmm? Or, the better question to be asked, what would I do, if I were me?" We kept walking along. "Not far now, Seth, if the Daleks don't get there first. Oh, no. Oh, dear. We've wandered into the wrong corridor. We must be close to the main TARDIS drive now. Christopher, Christopher, you go back." "No, I have to stay with you, Shadow." The boy said. "No, nonsense, be sensible, go back! When I say run, run! Don't you understand? The regeneration is failing." I said, shakily. The boy wandered off. "Adric! Adric, not that way!" I was shocked. "Adric... I remembered his name." I walked around. "Adric!" There was a mirror. I looked into it. "That's the trouble with regeneration. You never quite know what you're going to get." There was a recorder on top of the mirror. I played it too hard and it squeaked. "No." I found a cricket bat by the hat stand. "Ah! Dear me. Needs a drop of linseed oil, though." I walked over to another room, ready to attack anything that came out. I pushed the door open and hid. It was a dressing room. I went in and changed. I came back out looking like my sig, and went back over to the mirror. "Well, I suppose I'll get use to it in time." There was then a thud. "That's the door!" (OK NOW YOU HAVE TO COME FIND ME)

[IN ACE'S STOLEN TARDIS] "Oh, no, you can't escape. You're mine, Adric. Mine! Until we have completed our final task." I was following the boy on the scanner. (NOW GET BACK TO FINDING THE SHADOW)

"It mustn't have taken them this long. The TARDIS is endless, as you know, Victor. The first time I got lost in them. We should go find them." We left the console room, and found a piece of string attached to a door. We followed the string and the markers to find the Shadow. "Shadow, are you alright?"

"Fit as a fiddle, Ace, but something very peculiar is happening in the TARDIS. The Zero Room door, I heard it slam. Did you find it?"

"No, we didn't Shadow. You're being delusional." I said. "No! I heard it slam!" "Alright, let's look for it." We walked around a couple of hallways. I walked into a pinkish-grey room. "Doctor? What's the Zero Room look like?"

"It's sort of a grey colour. Grey... Pinkish-grey. Did you find it? It's very calm, you should feel a difference."
