As I flipped a final switch on the console for good measure, the floor began to shake beneath me and I was thrown to one side of the control room as the TARDIS emitted a horrible screeching sound. I leaped up, wincing. I'd probably have a hugs bruise down my side by tomorrow. I went back to the control panel and held on for dear life. Finally, the machine came to a stop with a loud thud. I stumbled over to the chameleon switch (it was easy to find this one because at some point Victor had labelled the switch with a picture of its namesake animal) and turned it on, hoping it would camouflage well. By the look of the entry, I groaned. It appeared I would be making an entrance to wherever-I-was by jumping out of a trash can. I sighed and began to climb the ladder that Victor had put in when the entrance to his TARDIS had moved to the top. I banged the door open and hopped out, then froze. Some boy in a wheelchair was staring at me, open mouthed. "Erm... how much of that did you see just now?" The boy-he was rather attractive-laughed kind of nervously and said, "well, I heard this odd noise and came out to investigate... did this trash bin just come from something that was... not a trash bin?" I coughed. "Uh, yeah. About that-" I was cut off by the same strange noise that the TARDIS had made coming from behind me. I whipped around to see a form materializing. Probably my dad. I sighed and stood there. It wasn't like I could feasibly escape without probably dying painfully at least once by crashing Victor's TARDIS, then I'd be grounded until I regenerated, if I wasn't already.

I walked over to the TARDIS, shoving the doors open, and slamming them. They didn't close, they just bounced off of each other and went back open. The plated floor of the TARDIS rattled and rumbled as I walked over them. I found where Rubi was, and I saw the upset look of Kaley in the mirror of the TARDIS. She had told me not to get so upset about this, and that this was normal with teenagers, but that just made me more unhappy. I locked on to the coordinates of where Rubi was, and I punched the switch so hard sparks flew out from underneath it. "Stupid piece of ****." I angrily muttered. Kaley came up to the TARDIS and closed the doors for me, because she knew I'd forget. The central column of the TARDIS moved up and down, the green cylinders halting to a stop as the TARDIS materialized. When we landed, I pulled the AV scanner around. An alley, where I needed to be. I knew this because Victor's TARDIS, a trashcan with Rubi sticking out of it, and Rubi's smart enough to know not to climb into trashcans. I went upstairs in my TARDIS, and looked at our family portrait. Me, Kaley, Rubi, Alistair, and Kris. It made me sad. I opened the doors to my TARDIS, then closed them and went back inside, over to the bedroom in it, laid down on the bed, and started crying. Nobody really cared about me, except Kaley. It's a crooked line I follow, and a rocky road I ride.

Victor had followed Shadow into his TARDIS to go find Ruby and retrieve his own machine. They went inside, and Shadow got the TARDIS to where it needed to be, Ruby plainly visible talking to... someone, Victor couldn't really see, but then Shadow had left, vanished inside of his bedroom. Victor sighed and walked to the door of the room, rapping his hand on it. "Shadow, we need to go get Ruby now," he said. "Come on." All he heard in reply was a few choked sobs.

I freshened up and went outside of my bedroom. "Alright, let's go." We walked to the entrance of the TARDIS and went outside. "Rubi! Victor's here to talk to you."

"Rubi! Victor's here to talk to you!" Victor rolled his eyes. "Shadow, she's your daughter. You need to go out there first. And be nice." He pushed Shadow out the door and then slammed the TARDIS doors shut, locking Shadow out.

"C'mon..." I whispered to the door. I turned around to see Rubi staring at me. "Hey, Rubi. Sorry for what happened earlier. I'm honestly sorry and hope you understand it was me being angry. I hope you can see what I mean, and I would love for you to come back home." (WHOA I WAS NICE?)

"Hey, Rubi. Sorry for what happened earlier. I'm honestly sorry and hope you understand it was me being angry. I hope you can see what I mean, and I would love for you to come back home." When Rubi didn't respond, Victor stepped out from behind Shadow. "Come, now, Rubi. Don't be irrational. Just come back. You don't even have to go with your father right now if you don't want. You can come back to my flat and we can talk everything over." As he finished, he noticed the boy next to Rubi, the one in the wheelchair. Christopher Holland. He froze on the spot as he saw Christopher's face, already filled with confusion, go to an expression of shock. Victor's brain fired commands at him as he tried to think of something, trying to explain, apologize, anything- then it was all bright and there was pain and blood and Victor could feel his regeneration energy begin to spread. Bright beams of light shot from his body and then he was left to see what had happened. There had been some sort of explosion, and bits of pavement and even a few chunks of car were thrown around. Shadow and Rubi were still on the ground, soaked with blood, not quite having regenerated yet. Victor sat up and swallowed with his new throat. He didn't really like the taste of the inside of his mouth, but he would get used to it in due time. Holding up a hand, he noticed that he still had the long, slender fingers he had had in his last regeneration. He coughed and looked around him. Where was Christopher? He hoped the boy hadn't been harmed, but that was probably too much to ask. Then he noticed a figure he hadn't seen before, sitting up and rubbing his head. The person looked towards Victor with a confused look on his face. Victor, just as confused, responded to the glance with a shout of "Who the hell are you?" Oh. He was American now. Interesting.

I heard voices in my head... "Shadow." Romana "Shadow?" Victor "Shadow!" The boy I knew as Adric said. I opened my eyes and smiled. "It's the end..." I said, "But the moment has been prepared for..." I motioned my handover to the ghostly figure in across the street. "The watcher!" Adric shouted. "So he was the Shadow all the time!" Romana understood. The Watcher merged with me and formed a cocoon-like layer around me. I reemerged with a warm smile. I had no idea what I looked like. Suddenly alarms blared as police and firemen showed up on the scene. Romana, Adric, and Victor (you may be a big part of this) helped me to my TARDIS. I couldn't stand up. I could barely move, barely think. "I need to find the Zero Room." That was the last thing I remember saying.
