Hello! This is the next step in increasing basic post length and making it more interesting.
ADD DIALOGUE. This is a pretty obvious step, but still.
BEFORE:Victor walked into the room, his shoes tapping loudly on the golden hardwood floor. He took a seat on the cream-coloured loveseat across the table from Shadow. Crossing his legs and placing his hands below his chin, he leaned back and began to think.AFTER: Victor walked into the room, his shoes tapping loudly on the golden hardwood floor. He took a seat on the cream-coloured loveseat across the table from Shadow."Hello, Shadow, what brings you here today?" Victor asked politely. Crossing his legs and placing his hands below his chin, he leaned back and began to think of more conversation. "How are you doing in your new house?"
I must also bring up an important point: even though you are trying to increase post length and make it more interesting, NEVER powerplay or godmod. This is when you make a character do something that they have not already said they have done. It's okay on a very minor scale, for instance if you pull a character aside to talk to them, but if they are preoccupied with another character the most you can do is, like, tap them on the shoulder. Also, godmodding is when you go and kill everyone without letting them put up a fight and you aren't harmed at all. All you have to do to correct this is give the other characters a chance to defend themselves, and include key statements like "hoping the punch would hit him in the jaw." Also, you cannot make your character avoid every blow unless the other person is actually a horrible fighter.
